Using positive and interactive instructional methods, combined with practical hands-on components, Iridia's medical education and instructors are consistently praised for lowering the stress and pressure that many healthcare professionals associate with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) continuing education.
At the end of the ACLS program the successful learner will have demonstrated both the required knowledge and skills to manage cardio-respiratory emergencies using the systematic ACLS approach.
Students must have a basic knowledge and understanding of:
- BLS skills
- Electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythm interpretation for core ACLS rhythms
- Knowledge of airway management and adjuncts
- Basic ACLS drug and pharmacology knowledge
- Practical application of ACLS rhythms and drugs
- Effective team resuscitation concepts
Prerequisite: A Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
Exam: The ACLS exam is a closed book exam and participants must achieve 84% or better in order to pass.
Prereading: Please allow at least eight (8) hours to review the prereading, it is a fundamental part of preparing for the course. PDFs are available for download.
Manuals: The 2015 Advanced Cardiac Life Support Manual and Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care are mandatory for this course.
